JansenArt™ Traditions Paint is manufactured DecoArt. It is a fine art grade paint using the finest of artist pigments. This means that the colours are clean, clear and pure.
It is a water based acrylic resin making the paint very durable.
It is also very versatile.
- It performs as an acrylic… because it is an acrylic.
- It performs as an oil….to give it the long working time characteristic to oils we prepare the paint to change it’s working properties. This is what we refer to as setting up a “Global Palette”. For detailed instructions visit www.jansenartstudio.com and open the link to Global Blending. This explains how to add a small amount of Extender to the paint over a short period of time to give the paint the qualities of oil. It is perfect for the wet into wet technique, which I love to use. It gives the paint a longer drying time yet lets you dry ( with a hair dryer) when you wish. Most of my packets can be used with this method. I have set up a basic Global Blending palette and use it to brush mix my colours for the individual palettes. Many traditional fine art techniques can be used with this method.
- It performs as a watercolour…… Because Traditions is a fine art grade paint made with pure pigments and water based it can be used to paint watercolour techniques. The semi-transparent and transparent nature of some pigments are wonderful for watercolour techniques.
I absolutely love to paint with JansenArt™ Traditions Paint for many reasons.
It is a non-toxic therefore safe paint. There are 26 pure pigments so technically that is all the paint one would need. Only 50 colours in all and that’s it! You can mix any colour your heart would desire from the 50 colours. So there is no need for hundreds of bottles of paint to take up space. It is thick and creamy right out of the bottle and mixes with extender for the “global blending” technique which works so well for “wet in wet” and “glazing” techniques.
