Gladys Neilsen lives in Centreville, New Brunswick - "Canada's Picture Province ". Village Designs is situated in the beautiful Saint John River Valley. Its panoramic landscapes are the inspiration for many of her original and exclusively unique designs.

Gladys' packets are marketed under the copyright of Village Designs. Village Designs was born under a division of Village Fabrics and Crafts Ltd. After 30 years as a retailer, Gladys sold her business to a long time employee, but you can still find her there teaching classes and chatting with customers. Village Designs packets, books and painted samples are on display and painting supplies are available. The shop is located in Florenceville N.B. just off the Trans Canada at exit 153. It is a beautiful little village nestled along the picturesque Saint John River. If passing by give a call, Gladys loves to meet others who also have a passion for painting.

As a teacher, Gladys never fails to learn something new from each class and her ambition is to have her students say the same. As a Certified Professional Demonstrator with the Craft and Hobby Association of America, Gladys aims to ensure success by inspiring the creative side of each student and make learning a relaxed and fun experience. Gladys is a juried member of the New Brunswick Craft Council and instructs internationally. She is continually taking classes to keep a breast of all the new products/ techniques in the industry. She developed her own acrylic technique for landscapes using her own fan and deerfoot brushes and glazes to give a soft oil-like appearance to her paintings. You'll find yourself asking: "Is that acrylics or oils?" She also enjoys painting in the miniature. You will find her set of mini brushes makes the process easier.
